Like anywhere you need to take reasonable safety precautions, but providing that you do you should encounter no issues during your stay on Siargao.
There are s0me high risk areas in The Philippines and currently Mindanao, the large island next to Siargao, does fall into this category. This is mainly restricted to the Southern and Central parts of Mindanao, so if you intend to explore these areas before or after your stay in Siargao please take extra care.
